This first release by Ensemble f2 of a projected 3-Cd set of music by Franz Danzi (1763-1826) features his dramatic and turbulent Quintet for piano and wind in D minor, op.41, the rousing horn sonata in E flat op. 28 and the B flat clarinet sonata op. 56.

The members of Ensemble F2, all leading practitioners of period instruments, bring this wonderful, lyrical music to life, discovering the
composer’s original colours.

Also at the heart of this disc is a wonderful fortepiano by Johann Fritz (1815) from the Finchcocks Collection with a beautiful singing tone and a surprising battery of percussion effects, all of which are used on this recording!
